On the International Day of Neutrality, December 12, a conference was held in the Mansion Dufour to launch the Geneva Centre for Neutrality.
During the conference Ruth Dreifuss, former President of Switzerland, Paul Widmer, former Swiss Ambassador and writer, Myret Zaki, a Swiss journalist and analyst, and Thomas Mayr-Harting, former Austrian Ambassador shared their vision of Swiss neutrality. The conference was brilliantly moderated by Romain Clivaz, a political journalist of Le Temps.
The vice president of the Geneva Center for Neutrality, Nicolas Ramseier in his speech emphasized the purpose of thre center: “Is neutrality an excuse, a cover, a defense to be passive in the face of crime, or is it a tool to create space for dialogue and peacebuilding? Our center will organize conferences and attract top-notch specialists to hold debates, develop ideas in the field of neutrality, and do analytics. A special focus will be on security and economic sustainability, on digital neutrality.“
